Question about psychiatric disorders?
A disease like schizophrenia is diagnosed only once a person has been observed to exhibit two separate episodes of psychosis over a year long period. Over the course of my lifetime iv exhibited catatonic behaviour almost like bipolar, but never flatness of emotions in line with what a standard schizophrenic would be more prone to. However my particular condition has manifested itself through auditory hallucinations. I do not have a thinking disorder in terms of the cognitive, and although articulate, I can be seen to become tongue-tied. Am suffering with something other than standard schizophrenia? (Organic origin has been ruled out through a blood sample) I say this because i have had one psychiatric episode. I know its just a label, but id like to compare myself with others in the same boat.Three years ago i had such disordered thinking, but now hardly any. Wierd. They say bipolar is a 'disorder of mood, where as Sz is a disorder of thought'. I have read of a disorder which combines the two, 'schizo-affective' which i think sums up my condition better. can somebody give me some information regarding this disorder in more detail? Any insight, advice or whatever else regarding this issue is welcome as it all helps me learn more about this brain disease in order to manage it.
