Does this sound like a good plan? Need everyone's opinions! And help :)?

The guy I really like is amazing at guitar, and I want to learn how to play. Like right now I just mess around with my guitar and I've been teaching myself random chords to songs on the radio or whatever, but I don't actually know how to play. So I was thinking that I would subtly hint at how I want to learn to play (somehow hint towards the fact that I want him to help me) and then he could teach me! Is that a good plan? He's already one of my close friends, and I know he wouldn't mind teaching me. Plus his friend told me that the guy likes me too. Except we never actually said anything to each other, so it's just best friends with flirting alot. But is it a good plan? How exactly should I bring it up? What do i say?? Thanks!
